STRAWBERRY OASIS PIE

If you've never seen the movie The Waitress, you really should. It's quirky, funny, sweet, and uplifting. It     also has the recipes of some amazingly good pies. In the movie, they describe the strawberry oasis pie like:

“It could solve all the problems of the world, that pie… it’s a thing of beauty — how each flavor  opens itself one by one, like a chapter in a book. First the flavor of an exotic spice hits you, just the  hint of it. And then you’re flooded with chocolate, dark and bittersweet, like an old love affair. And finally strawberry, the way strawberry was always supposed to taste but never knew how.”

So I was completely caught up in the description of this pie, and decided to try and make it myself. I hope   you like it!

   What you'll need:

   Silk Filling:
-1/4 cup of butter
-1 1/2 cups of chopped semi-sweet chocolate
-1 packet of mini marshmallows
-1/3 cup of whipping cream
-1 tsp of pure vanilla extract

1. In a small saucepan over lowest heat, melt chocolate and butter together

2. Remove from heat and stir in and melt marshmallows
Ugh this was so sticky!!
 3. Add the cream and vanilla

Oooh now its pretty!
4. Refrigerate while making strawberry filling

Strawberry Filling:
-2 cups of strawberries (lightly crushed)
-1/3 cup of sugar
-1/3 cup of water
-4 tablespoons of cornstarch
-1 tablespoon of balsamic vinigar
-2 1/2 cups of strawberries (diced)

1.  Mash first amount of strawberries

2. Combine sugar and cornstarch in small bowl and whisk

3. In a medium sized saucepan, heat mashed berries with sugar until they are somewhat liquidy

4. Cook, and then add the add cornstarch mixture and wait for it to bubble and thicken

This is kinda weird looking...

5. Remove from heat and stir in balsamic vinegar

6. Cool for 1 minutes and then fold in diced strawberries

7. Refrigerate for 2 hours

Crust:
-Graham crackers

For this, I just baked a basic graham cracker crumb crust (try saying that 10 times fast)

Assembly:

1. Spoon chocolate filling into pie shell

2. Spill strawberries on top

And ta-da!

P.S. Sorry for the lack of apples in this recipe. I know it's Fall, but I guess I'm still not over Summer.
