Once upon a time, I lived in a beautiful country called Jordan. Usually when I tell people this, they have no idea where Jordan is:
Here are 5 things to do if you ever go to Jordan:
Petra is a beautiful ancient city that is famous for its rock cut architecture. It has amazing red color patterns in the rock that are beautiful to look at, and you can also take a donkey ride to the top of the mountain. This may sound odd and boring, but it's actually fun and maybe a little scary, since you sometimes feel as if you might fall down.
Aqaba is a well known Red Sea resort that was one of my favorite places to go on vacation. You can dive and snorkel in a beautiful coral reef, or take a glass bottom boat and enjoy the colorful fish and sea life while staying dry. While there, be sure to relax on the beach and soak in a brilliant red sunset.
Love hiking? Then be sure to go to
Wadi Dana! If you've got a guide you be sure to see all the best views, animals, and flowers. If you make this trip, be sure to bring some friends along because one of my favorite activities was sitting by a large bonfire lit for dinner at the campsite among family and friends. Then at night you can sleep in a cozy tent with a view of the stars.
Three words: Ride. A. Camel. It may seem scary, but it is way better than trudging through the sandy dunes of
Wadi Rum.The funnest thing to do is slide down the sandy dunes! The hard part is climbing up.
The
Dead Sea is probably the most well known of all of these. It is famous for its enormous concentration of salt which prohibits life from forming. On the up side, all the salt lets people float on the water like so:
PS. Remember to have a mud bath! The mud at the Dead Sea is full of healthy nutrients and works wonders on your skin. It looks like chocolate...yum.
